How To Make Rose Water Essential Oil At Home?
A few proper steps need to be undertaken to make rose water essential oil at home.
Step 1- The first step is to select the right roses from your garden. Make sure that the roses that you are selecting are free from any chemicals or pesticides. The right time to harvest the rose petals is in the morning after the dew evaporates. Gently clean the rose petals to remove any type of dirt or dust.
Step2- Take a saucepan, add some water, and bring it to a boil. After the water is boiled, turn off the flame.
Step 3- Take a cup of carrier oil like jojoba oil or grapeseed oil, and pour it into the glass jar.
Step 4- Crush the rose petals and add them to the oil. Swirl the glass jar to ensure the petals are coated properly in the oil.
Step 5- Close the jar and then place the jar in hot water. This will help in releasing the scent from the rose petals. After the water cools down, place the jar near a warm area near a window where ample sunlight is received.
Step 6- The jar should be kept in a warm place for 24 hours.
Step 7- Then, with the help of cheesecloth, strain the oil by gently pressing the petals.
Step 8- If you want to increase the scent or smell of your oil, repeat the above 1 to 7 steps till you get the desired scent.
Step 9- Pour and store the oil in a dark glass bottle and tightly cover the lid.
How To Use Rose Essential Oil?
Rose essential oil is high in concentration, so it is advisable to dilute it with carrier oil like coconut oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, sweet almond oil, etc. Following are some of the ways in which rose essential oil can be used for maximum benefits:
Relaxation: You can use a diffuser to diffuse rose oil. Or you can dilute rose oil and use it on your neck, and wrists for effective results.
Bath: You can also add your rose essential oil to your bath. Add a few drops, say 5 to 7 drops of rose essential oil, with any carrier oil, and blend it well. Then add this mixture to your warm bath and enjoy the relaxing experience.
Moisturizer: One of the rose oil recipes to use on the skin is by way of moisturizer. You can also add rose essential oil to your moisturizer and apply it all over your face and neck.
Topical use: You can use rose oil for topical purposes as well. For that, you need to dilute rose essential oil with a carrier oil and then apply it topically. Diluting the rose oil will help in reducing skin irritation and inflammation.
Foot bath: You can add a few drops of diluted rose oil to your foot bath and soak your feet in it. Leave it soaked for 10 minutes.
Is There Any Side Effect Of Rose Oil?
Currently, no such side effects have been identified associated with the use of rose oil.
Though, it is recommended to undertake a patch test before applying rose essential oil. This will help in identifying if there is any allergic reaction to the use of rose oil.
For conducting the patch test, you can apply the diluted rose essential oil to the inside of your elbow. If you do not experience any redness, itching, inflammation, or swelling, you can use essential oil.
Is There Any Difference Between Rose Essential Oil And Rosehip Seed Oil?
Rosehip oil is majorly considered a carrier oil. And it is widely used in cosmetic products. Rosehip seed oil is extracted from the seeds and fruits found beneath the rose. Whereas rose oil is extracted from the rose petals.
The concentration of rosehip oil is not as high as compared to rose oil.
