About hair & scalp oil
Why only 3 drops of peppermint?
Peppermint is strong and cool on the scalp. Three drops in 30 ml is enough to notice it. Don't add more.
Can I add it to my shampoo instead?
Yes. Mix 1 drop of Peppermint into a palmful of shampoo, wash, and rinse well. Keep it away from your eyes.
Will it make my hair greasy?
Only until you wash it. Jojoba rinses out with shampoo.
About fresh home scent
Can I make a room spray with it?
Yes: 15 drops of the blend in 100 ml of water with a tablespoon of witch hazel or vodka. Shake before each use and spray into the air, not on wood or fabric.
Is it OK around children?
Diffuse it in a room the children aren't in, and air the room before they come back. Don't diffuse Peppermint near children under 6.
Is it safe to diffuse around pets?
Diffuse in a ventilated room for 30 to 60 minutes, and make sure your pet can leave the room. Ask your vet first for cats and birds.
About soap & candle making
How much essential oil goes in soap?
About 1 to 2% of the base. That's 70 drops (3.5 ml) for 225 g, as in this recipe.
How much goes in a candle?
This candle uses 60 drops in 100 g of soy wax, about 3%. Stir the oils in at about 80°C and pour at about 60°C, so less of the scent burns off.
Will the soap tingle?
A little, from the Peppermint. If you'd like a gentler bar, use 20 drops of Peppermint instead of 40.
About balms, butters & lip care
Why only 1 drop of peppermint?
Lips are delicate, and Peppermint is strong. One drop in a 28 g batch gives a cool mint taste without being too much.
It came out too hard or too soft
Too hard: melt it again with a little more Jojoba. Too soft: melt it with a little more beeswax.
Do I need beeswax?
Yes, for this recipe. We don't sell beeswax. For a vegan balm, use 6 g of candelilla wax instead.
Everything else
Which peppermint is this?
Mentha piperita, sourced from the USA. It's stronger and cooler than spearmint, so a few drops go a long way.
Can I put it straight on my skin?
No. Mix it into a carrier oil first and patch test on your inner arm 24 hours before.
Which size should I pick?
Most people pick Complete. Routines over $50 ship free, and over $75 they also get a free Eucalyptus. The Starter is the three items one recipe needs; the Collection adds two more.
Do I save when I buy more than one?
Yes, on everything in your cart: 2 items 10% off, 3 to 5 items 15% off, 6 or more 20% off. It's applied automatically.
When does my order ship free?
When the products in your cart come to $50 or more after discounts. A free Eucalyptus is added at $75 and a free Lemon at $95. Shipping Protection doesn't count toward these.
What if I don't like it?
