About fresh home scent
Can I put it in my diffuser?
Yes, 2 to 3 drops with water. Vanilla is thick, so rinse the diffuser after. Diffuse in a ventilated room for 30 to 60 minutes.
Is it safe around pets?
Spray away from your pet and make sure it can leave the room. Ask your vet first for cats and birds.
About perfume & roll-on blends
Why alcohol and not a roll-on oil?
Our Vanilla is an oleoresin. It mixes fully into alcohol but settles in liquid carrier oils, so a spray stays mixed.
How strong is it?
About 3%, a body-mist strength. That's the most we suggest for skin, so for more scent, spray twice rather than adding drops.
Can I use vodka?
Use the highest-proof alcohol you can find. Vodka has water in it, so the mist can turn cloudy: shake it before each use.
About soap & candle making
Why did my soap turn brown?
Vanilla does that in soap, over days or weeks. It's normal and the scent stays. A tan or brown base hides it.
Can I use it in candles?
No. Vanilla oleoresin doesn't mix into candle wax. Use it in soap, or in an alcohol room spray for the home.
About balms, butters & lip care
Why are there dark specks?
That's the Vanilla. It's an oleoresin: it doesn't dissolve in butters, but stirred in well it stays spread through the solid butter. In a liquid oil it would settle.
How long does it keep?
Use it within 3 months. Keep it somewhere cool and scoop it out with a clean spoon.
Can I use it on my lips?
Keep this recipe for the body. For lips, use the shea and Jojoba base on its own.
Everything else
What kind of vanilla oil is this?
Vanilla oleoresin from Vanilla planifolia beans. It's thick, dark and rich, so warm the bottle in your hand before use.
Can I put it straight on my skin?
No. Mix it into alcohol, a soap base or a butter first, and patch test on your inner arm 24 hours before.
Does it work in candles or oil roll-ons?
No. It doesn't mix into candle wax, and it settles in liquid oils. Use it in alcohol sprays, soap and butters.
Which size should I pick?
Most people pick Complete. Routines over $50 ship free, and over $75 they also get a free Eucalyptus. The Starter is the three items one recipe needs; the Collection adds two more.
Do I save when I buy more than one?
Yes, on everything in your cart: 2 items 10% off, 3 to 5 items 15% off, 6 or more 20% off. It's applied automatically.
When does my order ship free?
When the products in your cart come to $50 or more after discounts. A free Eucalyptus is added at $75 and a free Lemon at $95. Shipping Protection doesn't count toward these.
What if I don't like it?
